The Canique Reed is a sensor that can transmit the status of a magnetic switch (open/closed) or the status of a button (pressed/not pressed).

It has a 2-pin screw terminal and is ideal for cable-bound magnetic door/window contacts that detect the status of the door or window (open/closed). You can also use it for drawers, letterboxes, etc.

A radio transmission (868 MHz) takes place whenever the switch status changes, as well as at regular intervals of 30 seconds. The battery life is 10+ years with a single AA battery.

Technically speaking, the Canique Reed detects whether the two poles of the screw terminal connection are short-circuited or not.

To operate this device, you additionally need one of these base stations:

• Canique Pico Gateway
• Raspberry Pi + Canique Radio Hat

Availability of sensor data:

The measured data points are currently only available via MQTT.
When operated with the Radio Hat for the Raspberry Pi, the data can be retrieved via the MQTT server of the Raspberry Pi.
When used with the Canique Pico Gateway, it forwards the data to an MQTT server of your choice, including Home Assistant. The Canique Pico Gateway is fully compatible with Home Assistant and can automatically integrate the data into Home Assistant with a single click of a configuration button.
